Safety / Responsible robotics

Autonomy must
earn trust.

GappAI is committed to developing and deploying Physical AI in line with applicable European law, relevant technical standards and a risk-based engineering process.
01 / Our position

Safety is a system property—not a final checklist.

For robots operating around people, safe behaviour depends on hardware, controls, perception, learned policies, human oversight, operating procedures and the environment. We design these layers together and evaluate them throughout the lifecycle.

Compliance requirements differ by product, role in the supply chain and intended use. GappAI will classify each system and deployment individually, document the applicable obligations and involve qualified conformity and legal specialists where required.

02 / Engineering principles
01

Risk before capability

Define intended use, foreseeable misuse, hazards, operational limits and acceptance criteria before scaling autonomy.

02

Human oversight

Use clear operating states, intervention paths, safe stops and escalation rules appropriate to the task and environment.

03

Measured performance

Evaluate success, failure, recovery, latency and uncertainty under representative—not only ideal—conditions.

04

Controlled learning

Separate training, validation and deployment; version models and data; gate updates before they reach operations.

05

Privacy by design

Minimise personal data, establish a lawful basis, control access and retention, and protect recorded human demonstrations.

06

Traceability

Maintain technical documentation, decisions, test evidence, incidents and changes across the system lifecycle.

03 / European framework

Designed for European
requirements.

Our compliance map is use-case specific. The following instruments form the baseline we expect to assess for relevant GappAI systems and deployments.

Mobile autonomous inspection robot operating in a real building environment under defined deployment boundaries
Bounded autonomy / Operational monitoring

Real environments.
Explicit operating limits.

04 / Assurance lifecycle
01Classify

Intended use, legal role and risk profile.

02Design

Limits, safeguards and human control.

03Verify

Tests, simulation and representative trials.

04Deploy

Controlled scope and trained operators.

05Monitor

Performance, incidents and managed change.
